I spent a little time this weekend at the ambitious and successful Howl Festival in the East Village. Great weather, lots of art, plenty of drag queens, and all the freaks you expect in Tomkins Square.
These photos are of sections of a large mural project where each of maybe 50 artists were given an 8-foot square of canvas to work on. The canvases were draped in a row around the front and right-side gates of the park.

Everyone likes colorful abstract art.
Everyone in New York likes water towers.
Everyone likes dogs.
Everyone likes mom.
Everyone likes primitives.
Everyone in the East Village likes angst.
Everyone likes grafitti.
