Just in case you need another reason to pick up the Post every once in a while for a dose of sanity, the Times proved again how disconnected in can be from everyday lives of everyday New Yorkers with an editorial-from-another-planet rooting for the Red Sox to beat the Yankees.
Sure, they throw out some ivory tower/liberal guilt argument about "warm sentiment" for the losing teams and offer "due respect to our New York readership" but -- I'm at a loss for words here -- for freaking sake what sort of paper roots against the home team?
I just got sick reading that article. at least it's in the op-ed section. what a joke! how can anyone from ny or any yankee fan in their right mind ever want anything less than the yanks humiliating the red sox again? i just don't understand!
Rooting for the Yankees is like rooting for General Motors. You know they're going to win. There's no challange to it. Conversely, it takes a whole lot of faith to root for the Cubbys or the Sox. I have to say I'm bored with the Yankees winning.
Do you remember that first year Torre won, and everyone was so happy. It just doesn't happen anymore. The Yankees are expected to win. If they don't win, we're not even sorry or disappointed, we're angry. Who needs it?
So until the Yankees suck for a little while, I'm rooting for the Sox and the Cubs.
GO BOSTON!
What they don't mention in the editorial is that the New York Times group has a small stake in the ownership group of the Red Sox.
the worst comparison i have ever heard in my life is that between the yankees and general motors! you have got to be kidding me. you've got to come up with something better than that my man!
is that how you pick the teams you root for, by who sucks more? that is pretty pathetic
ahhh...no the yankees are the best yall just hate them for no reason your just mad because the red sox suck!!! theyve been losing like hell!!!! we never did anything to you guys, you guys keep us in your minds 24/7 that's how much you love us!!! LOSERS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!WE NEVER EVEN MENTION YOU GUYS
